Vanessa's Graduation Party

One of my best friends, Vanessa, just graduated with her Master's Degree in Social Work. I am so proud of her. Another one of my best friends, Alyssa, and I decided to throw Vanessa a surprise graduation party to celebrate her great accomplishment. We had a lot of fun planning it. Alyssa prepared the food and hosted it at her apartment, and I got to have fun coming up with fun ways to decorate.

I chose a couple different types of garlands to make: a pom-pom garland with blue and silver yarn, and a tissue paper tassel garland. I did a simple chalkboard design (confession: I love this trending  fad-so fun!). I also made some of my own prints that we dispersed throughout the party, and then I finished it off by cutting out my own photo booth accessories. Everyone at the party had a lot of fun taking goofy pictures with them.

Most of all I loved how totally surprised and confused Vanessa was when she finally got home. It was so great celebrating with her in this amazing accomplishment of hers.

Weekend. And did I mention a bear?

We just like to play. We love hiking and exploring a lot! We just went on a hike up Rock Canyon and went to where the trail forks and went to the Squaw Peak trail. On our way back down the trail, Keith yells to me, "There's a bear in that tree!" Sure enough only twenty feet off the path is a bear up a tree. Seeing us, it jumped out of the tree and ran away, scared. My thought process when it jumped out of the tree was that it was going to run after me and eat me, but it turns out I am a pretty intimidating girl. Pretty proud of myself for that. It runs away to hide, but keeps turning back to check out where we were, so Keith was able to get a picture of it in the distance. If you look really close in the picture, you can see it.

We also went and took Keith's sling shot up Rock Canyon because there is an abundant supply of ammunition for us to shoot our target. That was all too much fun for us! While there, we decided to do more exploring, and during our exploring we came across a Spiderman mask at a park, so naturally... Spiderman poses were absolutely necessary.

Then on Sunday my church calling is in the nursery. The other girl I team teach with is out of town this weekend, so I brought Keith along. I am not sure who had more fun in nursery, my husband or the little boy we watch. (Of course I was right there with him having all too much fun.) We built a train track to make all other nurseries envious. City center and an Arc de Triomphe included. Be jealous of the fun we have at church. :)

Oh yeah, and we kind of had a macaroni fight in our apartment. Awful, I know. But have you ever had an urge to just throw food at someone? Like in the movie Hook and their epic food fight. Well, I finally acted on that impulse and threw some at Keith. A little taken aback and not sure how to react, I threw some again at him. This time he was all in. We threw every last bit of that macaroni at each other. The battlefield looked something like this:

We hope you all had a great weekend too!

Sometimes we go on bike rides...

We are loving the spring and the warmth that is finally starting to seep into Utah. With that, all we want to do is be outside. One of our favorite pastimes is going on bike rides. This past weekend we went on a lovely bike ride down the Provo River Trail to Utah Lake. We took many a detour including watching a train go by and seeing the conductor fear that we would jump on the track, but as he passed he gave us a kind wave that made my day. Once all the train cars finally passed, we jumped up onto the train track bridge. It was so neat! After that we passed a fly fisher, and then we climbed the perfect tree-climbing tree, found a rope swing that Keith went off of at least ten times (my personal Tarzan), pet a sweet horse, and skipped rocks down at the ever-so-scenic Utah Lake ;). If only it were spring time all year round...

Easter

I would have to say that Easter is my favorite holiday. I simply love all that the holiday celebrates-the resurrection of our Savior Jesus Christ. I love the spring and the new life that brings that help bring my mind to the resurrection in various ways.

On Easter morning, I was woken up at 7:00 a.m. by Keith bouncing on the bed saying, "The Easter bunny came, the Easter bunny came!" Rolling over to try to get just a little more sleep was highly unsuccessful due to Keith's elation to celebrate Easter and find our Easter baskets. The Easter bunny pretty much hid Keith's basket in plain sight. However, that was not the case for mine. Despite the fact that our apartment is on the small side, it took me quite a bit to find it. Then, finally in the last area in our apartment, I look up high into my closet, and I spot it. There it is! Candy filled eggs! I can hardly stand it! Yet, I can also hardly reach it because it is at the very top of the closet. Keith gladly and with a grin on his face helped me get it down.

To bring a little Easter spirit to the apartment, I had to get to crafting and decorating beforehand. It was quite fun!

This Easter was great. We spent Easter dinner with my old roommate, Briana, and her husband Reilly, and then we played so many rounds of Skip-Bo (the only game that we have, so anyone who comes over may be forced into playing it for hours ;)) until we could hardly stand it.

Happy Easter!

Honeymoon

I know it has been over four months since our honeymoon, but as I was going through our camera, I realized I never posted any of these fun pictures of our first trip as newly weds. It was a blast cruising down to Cozumel and the Yucatan peninsula. On the cruise we had our fair share of Margarita pizzas and soft serve ice cream, sometimes even at two o'clock in the morning.

While on the Yucatan peninsula, we took an excursion to some ancient Aztec ruins, and then we went to a private beach to lounge around on the sand, get in the decently warm water, and enjoy a yummy Mexican taco bar.

Then in Cozumel we took an excursion to do an ATV adventure through the jungle during a beautiful, tropical rain storm. I loved it! Then we were off to another private beach. We both got massages right there on the beach. QUITE relaxing! Of course both placing were finished off with some local shopping to get our souvenirs of the trip.

The rest of the cruise was wonderful being out at sea, despite some of the rough waters which we encountered. We had a blast!
